Use the left and right buttons or arrow keys to select a tile. Entered letters stay in place. Start at any playable tile. Select just before or after the draft to build left or right. Tap a draft letter to edit it. Backspace clears its tile without moving the other letters; fill any cleared tiles before placing. Clear word discards your unfinished word. Build each layer before moving to the next.

How to play

Build five layers from the foundation. Every horizontal word and finished vertical connection must be a dictionary word.

  1. Place a word.Build a 3–24 letter word from either end. Use the arrows or tap a tile to select a letter to edit, or select just before or after your draft to add letters there. Backspace clears letters without moving the others; fill any cleared tiles before placing. Press Enter when the word is ready.
  2. Support it.Connect both ends to the previous layer, or overlap at least ½ the letters. Consecutive overhangs need ¾, then ⅞, and so on. Counterbalance across the anchored edge to restore support.
  3. Read down.Vertical fragments must be able to grow into words. HANGWORD builds down. STACKWORD hard mode builds up, while words still read top to bottom.

Use each word only once across the foundation, placed words, and complete vertical words. Fragments and single letters are exempt.

You can place several words on a layer and leave gaps. Placed words are permanent: there is no Undo or Reset. Yellow cells mark a vertical word that needs more letters. A red cell with an × marks the next space where a vertical run cannot continue. Spaces farther away stay open for hanging words; a completed word still counts as valid. Red spaces cannot accept letters. Typing up to one keeps the last letter selected. A new word starts building left if its next space to the right is red and the left space is free. Finish the remaining usable vertical connections to win. If no legal moves remain before you finish, the attempt ends.

A trapped unfinished vertical word costs one strike. Its remaining black tiles are permanently blocked, including after reloading. With one or two strikes, you can still win by finishing the other vertical words. Three strikes ends the attempt. Words that can still be helped by adding support or filling earlier gaps do not cost a strike.

Score points. Each submitted word earns its length squared: three letters earn 9 points, four earn 16. Foundation words, vertical connections, and unfinished drafts earn no points. Losing sets your score to zero.
