Terms of use
Effective and last updated:
You are welcome to play, share the built-in results, and discuss the game. Please respect other players, our protectable work, and the site’s security. Third-party and open-data licenses remain in force.
Operator and scope
These terms apply to HANGWORD at hangword.com and its STACKWORD mode, operated by Thomas Beamshooter, Montana, United States. Contact sec@beamshooter.com. Please read these terms before using the service. If you do not accept them, do not use the game. These terms do not remove rights that the law does not allow us to restrict.
Permission to play and share
We give you a limited, nonexclusive permission to access and play the game as intended, including the browser copies needed to run it. You may share generated results and reasonable screenshots or excerpts for commentary, reviews, teaching, and discussion, with credit to HANGWORD and a link to hangword.com where practical. Do not imply our endorsement or present your service as this one.
This permission does not transfer ownership or grant a general license to republish protected application code, original artwork, or protected expressive elements of our branded interface. Separate licenses and uses permitted by law are preserved. See the copyright notice and credits and licenses.
Fair use of the service
Do not deliberately flood the API, evade security controls or cooldowns, send malicious requests, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with other users, or misrepresent affiliation with the operator. We may limit or block abusive traffic to protect the game. Ordinary accessibility tools are welcome. Nothing here prohibits security research or interoperability activity that applicable law protects; obtain permission before any testing that could disrupt the service or access nonpublic data.
Your information and submissions
The privacy policy explains local saves, submitted boards, and security processing. You retain any rights you have in information you submit; we process it to provide and protect the service, not as an assignment of your ownership. We do not provide public player uploads or a public messaging service.
Browser saves can be lost when you clear site data, change browsers or devices, use private browsing, or encounter a browser fault. Keep any results you want to preserve. Clearing saved data is optional and cannot be undone through the game.
Availability and changes
The current game is free to play. Puzzles, dictionary acceptance, scores, difficulty estimates, rules, features, and availability may change. A dictionary entry or frequency estimate is not an endorsement of a word or a guarantee that every player will consider it familiar. We do not promise uninterrupted service, permanent saves, or error-free puzzle assessments.
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This wording does not exclude an express promise we make or a warranty or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Responsibility and legal limits
To the extent applicable law permits, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses resulting from use of, or inability to use, this free game. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility for fraud, willful injury or misconduct, a violation of law, or any other responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Your mandatory consumer, privacy, and other statutory rights remain intact.
Applicable law and concerns
Montana and applicable United States law govern these terms to the extent permitted, without taking away mandatory protections of the law that applies where you live. These terms do not require arbitration, waive a right to bring a claim, or impose an exclusive court location. You may contact sec@beamshooter.com to try to resolve a concern informally; doing so is not a condition of exercising a legal right.
Updates
We will publish changes with an updated date and provide additional notice where required. Material changes are not intended to rewrite obligations retroactively. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions apply to the extent lawful.
